David Hufstetler has called Thomas County home since the 1980s. David graduated from Moultrie High School and studied at the University of Georgia. He knows how important our roots are as a community and will keep those dear as he keeps us safe.

David has 16 years of law enforcement experience, including serving four years at the University of Georgia PD and as the Thomasville-Thomas Co. Drug Squad Commander. He was recruited to lead that unit by Sheriff Carlton Powell and Chief John Perry in 1980. This long history of public safety strengthens David's principle of , strong and firm - but fair - enforcement of the law, without favor or prejudice, continuing the long tradition of keeping our streets safe in Thomas County.

David is a successful business owner for with over 34 years background. Employing over 30 people across five locations in South Georgia, David knows how to manage budgets and make the most efficient use of taxpayer money. He will make sure your tax dollars are spent fighting crime.

Throughout his career, David has been recognized for his dedication and excellence in law enforcement, receiving the Exchange Club of Thomasville "Peace Officer of the Year" award and graduating with honors from the NorthEast Georgia Police Academy. His commitment to public service extends beyond his work in law enforcement, as he served as a City Council Member from 2018-2021 and Mayor Pro Tem from 2020-2021.

David's strong ties to the community are evident through his long-standing membership at the First Baptist Church of Thomasville since 1995 and his involvement with the Rotary Club of Thomasville since 2017. As a devoted family man with three children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, David understands the importance of keeping our community safe for future generations. He shares the conservative values that are the foundation of Thomas County and will protect those values in the Sheriff's Office.
